how do i change a lower ball joint on a 1992 ranger 2wd
Depends on whether you have coil springs or torsion bars.
How to change upper and lower ball joints on a 1997 ford explorer all wheel drive?
It depends on the year, and whether it's 2WD or 4WD. I suggest entering your question again with the year. People have posted answers for specific year models. All Ford Rangers from 1993 to 1997 have "I-beam" front suspensions as opposed to the upper and lower control arms that most vehicles have. There is a detailed answer for replacing the upper and lower ball joints for '93 through '97 Ford Ranger ball joints at the question: "How do you change ball joints on 199X Ford Rangers?"
replace lower ball joint on ford ranger 2001
you will need a special tool for pressing the ball joints out.you can buy or rent the tools at a few auto parts stores. if it's your first time it will take awhile get a repair manual and be patient.
i suggest you replace upper and lowers at yhe same time, you will need a ball joint press either way. but you need to remove steering knuckle as a unit. then press in/out ball joints. not a big deal i you have the tools ,you also could bring the steering knucle to a shop have them press the ball joints in .then reinstall knuckle yourself.
I believe on the 4 x 4 , with the torsion bar suspension , the upper ball joints are part of the control arm and the lower ball joints can be replaced separately or with a new control arm The 2 wheel drive , with the coil spring front suspension , the upper and lower ball joints can be replaced separately

There is not a good and clear indication on how many ball joints are on a 2000 Ford Mustang. After searching around, there are conclusions that there are at least two ball joints on the Mustang.
The ball joints can be replaced by removing the wheel. Remove the rotor and brakes. Pound the old ball joint out. Insert the new ball joint with a ball joint compressor.
