There are plenty of giants in the world of technology, like Microsoft, Apple and Google. Two of the biggest forces in technology manufacturing are Intel and Advanced Micro Devices, commonly called AMD. Both specialize in microprocessors. Based on the type of microprocessor in your PC, your computer is either an Intel or an AMD system.
Amd and Intel have very different clock frequencies.
Amd processors are mostly known for their price per performance meaning what you pay is what you get while Intel is more expensive and has much higher performance then you might need, depending on what you want to do.
Mostly Intel is the top brand in performance and market but Amd had its moments a few years back.
The companies Intel and AMD are huge forces in the world of technology, and both began around the same time: Intel in 1968, and AMD in 1969. Today, they're without peer as the two biggest manufacturers of commercial processors. They make both CPUs and GPUs, and both produce good processors for consumers. Your computer almost certainly has processors from Intel, AMD or both.
First AMD in thebeginning only copied the Intel circuits and worked hand in hand with Intel, after a while AMD started creating it's own processors, and a competition started between AMD and Intel, since that we have seen many thing, many wars won by AMD and many won by Intel, now it seems that Intel is focused on insanely expensive processors that more or less fail to deliver the quality and performance claimed, and AMD is making very cheap processors but a huge performance lack is seen here also.
The differences between AMD and Intel can be separated into more aspects:
1) performance
AMD has less good but more cheap processors and Intel has very expensive processors with higher processing power.
2) marketing strategy
Intel relies on it's huge performance advantage compared to AMD and mainly orients towards servers, AMD is focused on more mainstream computers and has lower prices.
In my opinion, i would prefer to buy a motherboard with 2 CPU slots for AMD Phenom BE processors and than a core i7 and a good motherboard, the AMD version would rip Intel a new one, and the price would be almost the same, with the balance tipped on AMD's side.
Did not quite understand your question, but i hope my answer helped at least a bit. Cheers
Truly, not much difference. It's a personal preference, like cars, Ford or Chevy - depends on who you talk to. I like AMD but it's not such a big deal I wouldn't buy or not buy a computer based on AMD or Intel.
AMD is a company, it has a line of chips to compete with Intel's Centrino line. A comparison between similarly speced chips usually comes down to personal preference, though on a whole AMD does tend to be slightly cheaper.
The main difference between AMD and Intel CPUs lie in the processing instructions. AMD CPUs do not have a fast clock speed but can perform many more calculations in a processing cycle than Intel CPUs with its 10 step execution process. Intel processors, on the other hand, have a 20 step execution process which allows for a much faster clock speed. However, Intel CPUs perform fewer calculations per processing cycle. Additionally, Intel CPUs have much larger L3 caches than AMD CPUs.
Dont use AMD ever
Obviously different companies, but besides that AMD processors mu go in motherboard that use an AMD socket and Intel processors must go into an Intel based socket. Intel processors seem to be a bit more expensive but Intel is on top with the newest technology. Many AMD "fans" would argue this.
amd is newer than intel so it must be better.
Amd is just awesome then intel.
The main two manufacturers are INTEL and AMD. The 4th quoter results of 2008: INTEL - 80.96% AMD - 10.6%
Intel = buissness and work AMD= gaming and raw power
Intel processors and AMD processors use a different architecture and AMD tends to be a little bit behind. Intel is working on 14nm and is currently at 22nm, while AMD just now advanced to 28nm.
AMD is the ONLY compeditor of Intel AMD
The best processor between AMD oand Intel based on their features is basically INTEL,as it is more affordable and popular.
Intel Core Duo Intel Core 2 Duo Intel Core 2 Quad Intel Celeron AMD Athlon XP AMD Phenom X2 And two for laptops: Intel Atom AMD Turion X2
there are 3 different CPU's that i know of, intel, celeron and amd
Intel and AMD
Intel Corporation, Advanced Micro Devices, and Motorola Corporation.
