How about the men?
Men
Absolutely but usually not physically.
Women's shelters and domestic violence agencies and organizations are of help to abused women in Chicago, as well as any children that these women may have.
It depends where you live. I live in Canada and volunteer for the Abused Women's Centre. There are far more women abused than men, but, there are men also that are abused. Men are more often unwilling to come forward on abuse issues directed at them because they fear no one will believe them, well here it is as clear as can be: If a man is brought up by his parents that it's not alright to hit a woman, and he marries a woman who can be on the violent side, then even if she strikes him or throws herself at him in fight, he will back off. I have seen men who have been physically bruised, broken bones and teeth missing not to mention black eyes. Is he chicken? Not at all. He only did one wrong thing ... get out! I am happy to say that there are groups for battered men as well as battered women. Still, women take the worst of it all and there are by far more abused women and children out there. Statistics change drastically from day to day.
Some men will. This answer depends on how willing the man is to get help in why he abused in the first place.
Your local health department will have a lot of information on it. They can help.
In North America, 15-25% of women and 5-15% of men have been abused sexually as children. In India 47% of women and 51% of boys have been sexually abused as children(!) making it the country with the highest percentage.
Please seek help through your local shelters. Unfortunately, they do not have many batterred men shelters as they do women shelters. Find a job this will help you get a place to live. No one deserves to be abused.
No international figures are available. The total, whatever it may be, is far too large.
not all women who are abused by men turn into lesbians btw. and after being abused by a man it would be difficult to trust one again in fear of previous problems reccuring. they may not date for a while but certainly they all dont turn to homosexuality. thats like saying if your girlfriend slapped you in the face your going to start seeing men
The percentage of men getting abused is about 29%. Just because it rarely happens does not mean that it doesn't have, it is just not widely recognized because it is more common for women to be abused.
