Can't say I've ever had trouble with a sending unit although i would recommend a socket rather than a wrench. Make sure your using a 27mm or 1 1/16" Those sending units usually have pretty smooth corners and a socket will bite better. If its a 4.0L you should have plenty of room for this up top. If you have to, apply some heat to it with a torch, but not too much, after all it is an oil system.

you need to unscrew the oil pressure switch which is located near the engine mount. buy a new switch from the auto shop, then put the newswitch in and use a wrench or socket to install the new unit. done

Well, I have an 89 jeep wrangler with a really bad oil leak, and I just found it, it's the oil pressure switch. I can see the oil leaking with the motor running. I called my favorite mechanic and he said definitely, that's the problem. I'm off to replace it now.
