I too, have a 2000 Silverado (5.3L) with blend door problems. In warmer weather, the blend door gets stuck in the heat mode and I cannot use the air conditioning, plus the cabin gets hotter than Hades. Do you have this same issue BRich? Or did you before you replaced you blend door actuator and temp control panel?
In terms of blending the heat, do you mean that you try to warm the cabin somewhat while the control is in "vent" setting and you turn the temp control to a warmer temp (from the blue to the red) but all you get is cool air as though it remains in full vent mode?
If so, I have this same experience. I believe that this model was not designed to do that. My wife has a 2002 Trail Blazer and she can blend warm air into the cabin while in vent mode. I have never been able to on mine.
the temperature control actuator is behind the dash board.
NO it don't. The actuator is up on the front axel housing. Now the transfur case does have a switch on it that sends power to the actuator up front.
Removal Procedure # Remove the left instrument panel insulator (this is the carpeted cardboard piece above the brake pedal that connects to the knee bolster)# Remove the knee bolster (this is the pad below the steering column) # Remove the steering column filler (this is the metal piece behind the knee bolter, under the steering colum) (4 larger bolts, and I think 2 smaller ones)# Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature actuator. # Remove the HVAC Con (HVAC Control) MiniFuse #27 from the IP electrical center.# Remove the mounting bolts from the temperature actuator. # Remove the temperature actuator. Installation Procedure # Position the temperature actuator, then align the slots in the electric actuator driver to the flats on the temperature valve shaft.# Slide the electric actuator driver onto the shaft, while aligning the actuator locating hole to the forward alignment pin on the HVAC module case. The actuator driver should completely seat onto the temperature valve shaft and the mounting holes should be flush with the mounting bosses on the HVAC module case. # Install the mounting bolts to the temperature actuator. Tighten the temperature actuator bolts to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).# Connect the electrical connector to the temperature valve electric actuator. # Install the knee bolster.# Install the left instrument panel insulator.# Install the HVAC Con (HVAC Control) MiniFuse #27 from the IP electrical center.
Under the front of the truck on the diff. or hog head,This is where the actuator is located it has two wires on it and screws into the diff. or hog head,You will need to unplug the wire connector and then unscrew the actuator and replace it.
faulty actuator switch. GM had some problems with these.
Behind The Dash Underneath The Steering Wheel , Slightly To The Right.
The temperature door actuator controls the opening to the heater core. The heater core door regulates the desired temperature in the passenger cabin.
There is no fixing the actuator, replace it with a new one.
replace temperature door actuator.
When a pressure signal is applied, the valve shaft moves in the direction opposite that of the direct-acting actuator, but it follows the same operating principle. In the reverse-acting actuator, the valve shaft is pulled into the actuator by the application of a pressure control signal.
Take old one out put new one in
The temperature valve actuator is located on the front of the heater case
