Hamilton based the Constitution on nothin because he didnt write it. James Maddison worte it and he based it on what Montesquie said about the separation of powers to keep the gov. in control.

He did write part of it, because he was there at the Convention. He based a lot of his ideas on government from the English system of government, which he considered to be one of the best.
