The cold war was created by the atomic bomb in 1945, it's called the "atomic age." The cold war almost went totally hot during the Korean War of 1950-1953; but cooler heads prevailed. 1953 to '54, the French were preparing to depart Vietnam (Indochina); with US assistance. From those same time periods communist insurgents/infiltrators, etc. were making moves just about everywhere, to include the US...e.g. McCarthy hearings. Cuba, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Indochina, etc.
