There are lots of ways to reach the goal depending on how much more power you want, and how much money you want to spend. Headers, more cam, more compression, more crankshaft stroke, better heads, bigger valves, supercharger, nitrous oxide injection. Also, you can make better use of the power you already have with a better torque convertor and more rear gear. If you had to choose one thing to provide the most bang for the buck: nitrous. I have built several 305's. With a good set of heads (NOT HIGH DOLLAR like everyone is always saying), proper cam, intake, carb, headers, ignition, gears and stall converter/shift kit. You can make this motor perform very well and still get great gas mileage. I have a 305 in my 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo that runs 13.61 in the 1/4 and I still get around 17 mpg (more if I could keep my foot off the floor board). Most of the 305's I put together run right around 14.50's in the 1/4 and get about 20 mpg. I am on dragtimes.com as well as SUPER CHEVY. I am a well recignized engine builder in my area and people alway come back because I build most for right around $4-900 in just parts. It all depends on the persons spending amount.
The 1983 Chevrolet El Camino used a stock 14 inch wheel with a P205-75R14 tire.
The V6's came standard with a 2.56 and a 2.73 was optional. The V8's came standard with a 2.41 and a 3.08 was optional
It is a 4 bbl Rochester....
06 impala ss, stock to stock.
If this is a stock engine try anywhere from 4 to 8 degrees advanced.
3.736"
This engine should redline about 5000 rpm
You should be able to buy an inertia switch from your local Fiat dealership. You should also be able to get one from a decent auto sales shop, most will order you a switch in if they haven't any in stock.
depending on condtion. in good maybe $2100
There's a wide range of what will fit, but I believe the stock wheel is 17". IMHO, 16's or 17's would look great on a near-stock El Camino, as anything larger doesn't fit the classic look.
P245/75 R16 Chevy stock size
It has no stock symbol. It is a part of General Motors, so would be included in GM.
