According to the Wikipedia article on Sam Walton, he was a member of the Presbytarian Church (USA) and contributed substantially to that organiztion. He is unlikely to have had a Jewis background. I don't think so. Nowhere does it indicate that he is, and he attended University of Missouri where he "joined the estimable Zeta Phi chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was also tapped by QEBH, the well-known secret society on campus honoring the top senior men. Upon graduating, he was voted "permanent president" of the class. He was also a member of the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi" (as taken from Wikipedia.org) I doubt there were many fraternities, let alone Universities, that were accepting Jews back then. Additionally he named his child with his name, which is opposite common practice in Judaism.
