Rays, Herons, Gulls, Sturgeons, Sea turtles, oysters, and Virginia wildlife like raccoons, deer, bear, and birds. They also ate the provisions of pork, beef, and fish they brought from England.
During the Starvation Time however, domestic animals, like horses were also eaten. Other animals the colonists ate in desperation included poisonous snakes and malodorous musk turtles.

They ate a variety of foods. They had learned to grow and eat corn, wheat was grown for breads, sweet meats were eaten, eggs, apples, chicken, beef, turkey, deer, various birds, small animals, cornbread. Molasses was added to many foods and ice cream was a favorite desert.
