In order to get married in the Bahamas the following legal requirements must be met:-
- You must be who you say you are and prove it with official government issued documents like a passport.
- You must be at least 18 years of age and either single, divorced or widowed
- If single, you must prove your single hood with an affidavit sworn before a lawyer, notary public or justice of the peace.
- If Divorced you must provide the original or certified copy of the "decree absolute" showing that your divorce is final.
- If Widowed, then the original or certified copy of the death certificate of your spouse is required.
- You must apply for a Bahamas issued "Marriage License" as this is needed before any marriage can legally be performed in the Bahamas.
