Of interest Germany had plans to use the U.K. as a manufacturing base and launch for their A6 rocket being developed to attack the U.S. Combined with their work on the atomic bomb. A U Boat off the Canadian coast surrendered to the Canadians on hearing that Germany had surrendered, her cargo was ore for the Japanese atomic bomb program.
America was also considered a target during the Great War when they developed the Gotha Giant bombers to attack the States. They had two crews and full kitchen facilities, it was a long haul at about 200 mph!
