King Solomon was the son of King David from his wife Batsheva. Kink Solomon carried out his father dream to build a temple for Heshem (G-O-D) in Jerusalem. He was favored by Hashem because he asked not gold nor victory but wisdom to judge the people of Isreal. For that Hashem made him the smartest of man. In his time the kingdom of Israel was united and it prospered.
King solomom wrote three of the Bible books: Shir-Hashirim (Song Of Songs), Mishley (Proverbs) and Kohelet (Ecclesiastes).
But the more he prospered the more he fell. It is written that king Solomon preformed all three sins that kings were warned about in the Tora (five books of moses). Furthermore, king Solomon had many wives which he took from different nations and which practiced paganic deeds. All of which led to the punishment from Hashem to divide the kingdom into two sperate kingdomes - Jehuda and Israel. This appened only after his passing.
Most importantly Solomon built the first Temple to store the Ark of the Covenant and worship God.
