It is difficult to answer this question without knowing what specific topic you are asking about. All politicians change their positions at one time or other. Some change them more frequently than others, especially to make a certain interest group happy (which is called "pandering"), but it is not unusual for a political figure to adopt a new position on an issue. In real life, people grow and change their views all the time, as they receive new information or as they mature. But in politics (and to be fair, both sides do this), candidates are attacked and called flip-floppers for adopting new positions.
