Islam is a religion different from others. Our religion is the newest. Our holy book- the Qur'an, hasn't been changed ever since it's revelation. Our customs or rituals differ from many other religions too. There are a few rituals that I know of. These are some I know my family follows:
All Muslims must follow the five pillars of faith, which are
Shahada- accepting Muhammad as Allah's (God"s) messenger. Without accepting this you are not a Muslim
Salat- praying 5 times a day
Sawm- fasting during the month of Ramadan
Zakat- giving to the less fortunate
Hajj- making a pilgrimage once your lifetime to the holy city of Mecca
A man of the house or a an imam (a Muslim priest) recites the adhan (call to holy prayer) in the infants ear when they are born to make sure they are Muslim.
We have to holidays called Eid. First Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr) comes after the holy month of Ramadan. Basically we have parties and such. The second Eid (Eid-ul-Adha). That is when Muslims must sacrifice a goat or cow. The meat is then divided into 3 parts- one for you to keep, one for family or friends, and the last one for the less fortunate.
It is also a custom that a girl start wearing a hijab (head scarf) when she hits puberty.

Islam does not prohibit to celebrate national day. Islam does not interfere with the traditions and customs which are not Un-Islamic or against Islam. Islam is a universal religion. It is not so rigid or restrictive in nature.
The best way to convert to Islam is to first learn Basic phrases and obtain some knowledge of the Qur'an. After you get comfortable with Islamic customs, take what we Muslims call a Shahada which translates into "to witness." hope this helps a bit.
The dominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia is Wahabi. This is a much stricter and more conservative version of Islam, and some of its customs (not allowing women to drive, for example) are at odds with other denominations of Islam.
some of the customs are food
