DON'T SIGN UP! IT'S A RIP OFF!
Before I share my personal experience with console-deals, I need to say that I participated in promos many times and I always got free stuff that was promised.
I signed up with Console-deals/Surplus savings for an Xbox 360 a month ago. The sign-up itself was painful - my info was not excepted several times, I had to try several cards. My nonrefundable fee for this item was $35; in a week, it 'magically' increased up to $80. And now, here's what I found out they require and offer.
First of all, they need you to particpate in 'free' surveys and submitted 'easy' articles, for which you are supposed to get points. Once you collect enough points, you can redeem them, i.e. request a free shipment of your item. To redeem items like consoles, you need to accumulate between 250-350 points. If you're 'idle' for two months. i.e. do not participate in the plan, it's cancelled.
If you participated in paid on-line surveys, you know you can get $5-25 per survey. For virtually the same surveys Console-deals give you 2 points (which roughly equals $2), meaning that each time you take a survey you pay Console-deals on average, say $5. If you take 150 surveys to get 300 points, you basically lose about $750. You could easily buy 2 very nice consoles with this money.
The same situation with submitting articles - it's another way to make you slave for Console-deals.
So, economically it's not worthy time you spend.
Now, about their 'western promises'. It might've been ok to go for it and eventually get your item, even if you could get it 3 times faster participating in the same surveys outside the plan. The problem is - it doesn't work. Since I signed up, I managed to get qualified for only 2 (!!!) surveys. And only after stretching my beer-wine-drinking, TV-watching and cigarette-smoking habits. The worst thing - these surveys were not scored, i.e. I didn't get points for them.
About articles. Right after I signed up, I found a list of about 10 articles to be submitted on the day, worth about 40 points. Great, I thought, if I get that many new articles on each day, I'll work a couple weeks submitting 3-5 articles a day to get my xBox 360! Well, NO! No new articles were added to the list, and articles I submitted more than 3 weeks ago were not scored (they promise to have them scored within 5 days). I won't talk about the content of the articles but you should be skeptical about the claim that they're 'easy'. I spent on average 5 hours on a 3 page article about a product I'm not familiar with.
I emailed Console-deals 3 times and got no answer, I couldn't reach them on the phone.
So, I can't participate in free surveys, I don't have any articles to write, I have 0 points after a month and I lost $35 for signing up. So, if you want to indulge your greediness, like I did, waste money and time, and get your email account getting 200 spam messages a day, and if you want to end up feeling like a sucker, go ahead and sign up with Console-deals.
Otherwise, STAY AWAY, they're EVIL.
I'd be very suspicious of this. Check with Better Business Bureau or their online equivalent. See related answers for some weblinks.
This is the difference between Income and Expenditure in a non-profit making business, where the income exceeds expenditure
One example of trade surplus is South Korea.
