Check with your local minister for church work that might need to be done. Or see if a local political group needs some envelopes stuffed or fliers passed out.
Bear in mind, babysitting and yard work are two of the main things those under 16 can do.
I've read a true story about a guy who worked his way through college by doing door-
to-door housework! Even though working on Summer vacation isn't very high on my "Favorite Ways to Spend My Summer" list, it's pretty original; the people who do think about it would rather find an easier job. But, hey! That leaves the adults more money to pay you! As I said, housework isn't no.1 on my list, but if a guy could earn his way through college by working a few hours after school, it has to be a good paying job. Let me quote the man here: "I received only a few sneers before I was snatched from the street (I had been going from door-to-door). When word got around that there was a cleaning-man loose in the neighborhood, I had more jobs than I could handle! So I added a few of my friends into my "business" (after teaching them all I knew; as I'd been guided by all of the homemakers). And so began my career: 40 years later my after-class jobs have turned into a prospering business with seven branches." Well, there you have it. I'm hoping my parents will let my do something like this during Summer. I'm willing to give up a few hours of playtime to start earning for the sports car I want. It won't be much at first, but it's a start.
