Because different people have different ideas. And most companies have a policy against racism, and if a corporation only has one of some kind of person, then if they are fired and a company has a policy of corporate diversity, then firing that person could be construed as being based on race. Case in point: If a person is different than another, then they have different life experiences and they will have different thoughts on a matter or problem.

  • Diversity in a college classroom has many sides. It allows people from different cultural backgrounds to learn more about the country they are in and also because of the various cultures attending college all students can exchange ideas (opinions) on various different levels. It meshes the highly intelligent student with the high to below intelligence (sometimes due to cultural difference or getting use to that particular college) and everyone basically gains from the experiences from discussing their theories and ideas on different subjects. In other words, 'meshing the students' to work as one, but with different perspectives. A phrase 'True learning occurs when problems are approached from many perspectives.' A student experiences uniqueness to the groups with whom they are affiliated with and no problem is ever isolated within one group of people, Members of these groups have become invested in addressing the needs of different communities. Diversity is a multi-part citizenship: of smaller communities that define identity, of the university, of the nation, and of the world. A student from another culture or different religion does not have to choose between being secular or religious. Affiliation doesn't mean separation. Distinction with other students ensures that one approaches life with fresh perspectives.
