Though in practice we may find many differences in the religions (Islm and Hindu) but they are similar in many ways. The confluence of the philosophies of the two religions can be found in Sufism. Din-E-Illahi the religion started by Akbar The Great (India) was also based on the same principles.

To cite an example: Allah o Akbar is the most common phrase of prayer or Namaz in Islam and the word Om also indicates towards it; that God you are the greatest , and so great that you can not be described.

In fact Practicing Muslim religion is form of practicing Hinduism philosophy of Adveta meaning non existence of second; or nothing is there but one God.

Since God in totality cannot be described then why to make an idol for him or any form for that matter. Therefore only his prophets like Prophet Mohammad and the Jesus are worshiped more as a Guru to lead us to the ultimate God. Thus the form of No Idol Worship. Guru in Hinduism is given a status at times higher than that of God (Ref Saint Kabir; Guru Gobind Dou Khare Kako Lagon Payen; Balihari Guru apne Godind Diyo Bataye. Means I must salute the Guru first before God as he only led me to the God).

It is to be noted that when the religions like Christianity and Islam came into being Hinduism was well established and practiced by more than thousands of years. So all the religions existing had had a great influence of Hindu philosophy on their basic understanding of the universe and on new religions started by these great saints. No wonder that these great saints may had had their formal education by Hindu Gurus or in India.

Islam per Torah revelation by God to prophet Moses is called Judaism. Islam per The Bible revelation by God (same God) to prophet Jesus is called Christianity. The main differences are that:

• Muslims are followers of Islam religion which is one of the three Heaven religions revealed by the same God, the one and only one God). Hindus are followers of Hinduism which is almost a compilation of long history practices and traditions.

• Islam is based on monotheism that believe in one and only one God, the Creator, with no partner, no son. no father, no companion, and no resemblance. Hinduism is based on polytheism that believe in more than one god and all of these gods are part of brahman, an indestructible world soul (so to speak) that all things are a part of. The many gods merely represent different aspects of brahman, the divine unity. The three gods that are considered important in Hinduism are Brahma, the creator, who is represented by earth; Vishnu, the preserver, who is represented by water; and Shiva, the destroyer, who is represented by fire.
