The cooling fans can work to ways. either to bring cool air into the system or device, or to pull heat off a divice or out fo system. The three usally major cooling fans are the proccesor fan witch pulls heat off the proccesor heat sink witch is clued to the processor and basicly directs the flow. Next is the powersupply fan witch also pulls heat off the power supply then next you have the system cooling fan witch is usally located on the back or side of a desktop or bottem, side, front, or back of a laptop this usally is the one that works eaither way blows air in or out. Then there is sometimes a graphic(video) card fan witch is mounted on the video card on a PCI, AGP, or PCI-E slot and also pulls heat off of it.
