The President as Commander In Chief gives the US Military its orders, which all members of the military are obligated to carry out as ordered. The President out-ranks all other military officers and makes the decisions on the highest level. Or as George W. Bush once said, he is the decider.

His responsibility is to guide us in the best way to victory over the neighboring nations, but he is doing a very poor job with the country. He should be cutting back on expenses but instead he is making more.

The President of the United States if the "Commander In Chief", and in reality weilds very little power, except in times of chaos. The President has the authority to make minor decisions regarding foreign relations, bills and laws, and appointing of the White House Cabinet. In times of Marshall Law, the president weilds full authority over the military (all branches included), and as far as I am aware, has launch authority in times of nuclear instability.

As Commander-in-Chief, the President of the United States is the supreme commander of all the United States military services. As such, generals and admirals serve at his call. He can order bombings of foreign location, send ships anywhere, and send in troops as he wises. He can not declare war and must ask Congress for money if he plans anything that will take much time to do.
