Professor C. Richard Dawkins was born in East Africa, March 26 1941.

He is fascinated by the world, the Universe and life and life's diversity and evolution and is a fierce defender of the theory of evolution, publishing The Selfish Gene and The Extended Phenotype, not to mention The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution. He is actively for the promotion of the teaching of evolution (properly and improvedly) in schools and tries his best to remove misunderstandings about the theory in general.

With regards to Creationism being taught in schools, not to mention Intelligent Design, Dawkins is thoroughly against it. He considers religion spectacularly irrational and some of its doctrines 'obnoxious'. He published The God Delusion as an exposition of how the world might be better without religion, how Atheism is nothing to be ashamed of and how religion, run amok, can bring about unpleasants such as bigotry and homophobia and, most academically, why there is no evidence that a god actually exists.
