This means your suspension is due for replacement. The thumping you are hearing is either from your rear struts or coil springs. Could also be the seats as well. The pressure in the struts starts to leak out, and become useless. The noise that you're hearing is coming from the strut banging up and down, with no tension on it. It could also be something as simple as a few loose seat bolts (between strut, and body), have someone literate in mechanics look at it. It is very common in Ford Tarus, Ford Escort, Lincoln Towncars, and many other vehicles have suspension issues, well, with the rear anyways. I hope I've helped you narrow down, what the noise could be. (Check your spare tire as well, see if it's fastened correctly.)
It is more than likely that you need a new strut
Bump, clump, (a) hump, slump, grump, lump,
ball joints
It actually can be from the rear axle being too low to the ground. The back of the car hits the speed bump. That was the case with my bro's car anyway
check the rear drag links for wear the ball joints wear out a lot on them
There are a few different things which could cause wheel shaking and thumps when hitting a big bump. The most likely cause however, is that the struts need to be replaced.
jump, clump, rump, hump, dump, lump, stump, Forest Gump, trump, bump
Sound causes vibrations in waves that pass through a medium.
your spine ya dummie
It might be Syphilis.
Can be a loose shock, or loose suspension parts. Can also be loose exhaust system parts. I had a car that made a front-end knocking sound on bumps. Any little bump would do it. Turned out to be bad struts.
When you hit the bump, the mouse wakes up.
