Asia's land covers the largest amount of territory above water taking up (44,579,000 sq km) So being the largest is by obvious choice.
Africa is the second largest land mass taking up (30,065,000 sq km) above water. It is near the equator so on many maps it does not look as distorted like Asia and North America (24,474,000 sq km) whom look so much larger than Africa, but are not.
Deeper Answer
There is no definitive scientific answer to this question because as humans we simply do not know everything about our earths history, but it is most likely due to a process called Plate Tectonics. I also believe a scientific speculation that a planetary mass collided with the earth during it's early years of formation also creating the moon. This may have left the earth lopsided with a larger amount of mass on one side than the other which has dispersed throughout the years. Asia and Africa may have been the continents that benefited the most if this is true.

∙ 12y agoAfrica and Asia are both continents located in the eastern hemisphere, also known as the old world; both have very large populations (although Asia's is larger) and both are struggling with economic problems (Africa's are worse).
