What could cause your computer to restart repeatedly after being given an Internet Explorer error message and there doesn't appear to be any viruses?

Select Control Panel/System/Advanced/Startup and Recovery, uncheck the "Automatically Restart" box. If you have your XP CD handy, go to Start Menu/Run, type `sfc /scannow` and the PC will check for damaged system files. You may also have the Blaster Virus. Go online if you can and run the free Trend Micro House Call at wwwltrendmicro.com If you take off your start-up programs, it may help. On windows XP go to the start button, run and type in msconfig. At the top of the window there are tabs choose the tab that says start-up. Uncheck everything it will not harm your computer. Click apply then ok. It will tell you to reboot your computer when it reboots a window will appear that states "You are using selective start-up" there is a box in the middle of the window that says "Do not show this messge again" click that. Because not a lot of detail was given, there are only a couple of ways to fix this. Reinstall it. Be sure that you have a windows installation disk before attempting to do way # 1. 1. Click start then control panel. Next click on "Add or Remove Programs" and deselect Internet Explorer. Click through all of the screen and after you are done go back to the same screen again, but this time reselect Internet Explorer. Continue through the screen once again making sure to insert the correct disk if needed. It should now be fixed. 2. Download a newer version of Internet Explorer. Google "Internet Explorer Standalone Installer" on another computer and download it. Next transfer the setup file to the glitched computer and install the newer version without having to go online. It should now be fixed.
