As of August 6, 2010 - 69 countries. Interestingly, no countries have recognized Kosovo after ICJ Ruling. Looks like status talks will likely take place in future. China and Russia appear to have the upper hand here.
No. Many countries, prominently Russia, still recognize Kosovo as part of Serbia. See http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/english_country_names_and_code_elements.htm
3 countries out of 196 countries. These are Taiwan, Holy See and Kosovo
Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Kosovo which was an autonomous province of Serbia but has declared independence in 2008.
After a period of eight year from the ending of the war, Kosovo declared its independence in coordination with the US, Germany, Albania, France, UK and some other countries. P.s It happened in 2008 (8 years after the war period of 1999/2000)
Vojvodina and serbia...Kosovo is a self- country
It's not so much that they were "carved out" of Austria-Hungary- these countries simply broke away as World War I was ending and the Austrian government was unable to stop them. Here's the list: 1. Hungary 2. Czechoslovakia (which is now split into Slovakia and Czech Republic). 3. Kingdom of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, which then became Yugoslavia (this has since split into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Kosovo*, and Croatia). Parts of Austria-Hungary were taken by other countries, such as a chunk that was taken by Romania, another taken by Ukraine (which then became part of the Soviet Union), and part taken by Italy. The remaining part, called "German Austria", become the Republic of Austria, which it still is to this day. The * by Kosovo is because many countries do not recognize Kosovo as a country, in particular, Serbia, Russia and other countries that are their friends. Kosovo was a part of Serbia until it declared independence a few years ago.
Kosovo. Kosovo is its own country ! The capital of Kosovo is Phrishtina. Kosovo is not its own country. It has yet to have enough recognition. Only 75/195 members of the UN recognize Kosovo's sovereignty, and you need at least half, which would be 97 or 98.
66 Countries gained independence from the U.K
Three European countries have Islamic majorities: Albania, Bosnia and Kosovo. But all of these countries are officially secular, and have no official religion.
No countries signed the American Declaration of Independence, only American colonists.
There are several countries that claim independence but do not have enough recognition to qualify as sovereign:AbkhaziaKosovo*Nagorno-KarabakhNorthern CyprusPalestine*Sahrawi Arab Democratic RepublicSomalilandSouth OssetiaTaiwan*Transnistria- Kosovo* ~Kosovo is recognized by all Western nations with the exception of Spain and the Holy See. Many island nations, a few Latin American nations, a number of African nations, and a few Asian countries.- Palestine* ~Palestine does have enough recognition to become a sovereign nation and have tried to gain sovereign status. However, most Western nations do not recognize Palestine, but instead, Israel (especially the US, who has just immensely strengthened their ties with Israel). When Palestine bids for statehood in the UN, the US vetoes the bill, making the country unable to become sovereign.- Taiwan* ~Taiwan claims China while China claims Taiwan. There is sort of this agreement that a country must recognize either Taiwan or China, not both. China will not trade or have foreign relations with any country that recognizes Taiwan in addition to China. This is why many nations recognize China instead of Taiwan. In fact, many countries used to recognize Taiwan, but within the last half of the 20th century dropped their recognition to support China.Look at the links below for status of recognition.
Only Albania and Kosovo have the majority of the population being Muslim.
