Actually, this may be a fake quote, or at least one that someone attributed to Edison (I assume you mean Edison, since Einstein did not invent the light bulb). The trouble is, there's no proof he ever said it. It's usually part of a story where Edison (allegedly) discussed having tried at least 500 times (some versions say 1000 times) to invent the light bulb. But he was not discouraged, and he says he did not fail; rather, he just found 500 ways to notinvent the light bulb, or something like that. But most scholars dispute the quote, since there is no direct evidence of his saying it; and the places where he is quoted are from many years later, and usually by authors trying to make a motivational point about never giving up.
