John Quincy Adams used his position as a member of the House of Representatives to advocate against slavery, both by giving speeches and presenting petitions. He would eventually serve as the 6th President of the United States.

If you read his autobiography it states he ridiculed King George III for supporting it in the Declaration of Independence's first draft. It was written out after members of the Continental Congress, including New Jersey among others, argued against it.
He also wrote appeals to the forming government to end it and send them back home, but it was not recognized.

It's not clear here whether Southerners feared John Brown or John Adams. The passed amendment is perhaps phrased the wrong way, such as he wanted to have an amendment passed.
Well, his father, John Adams, was the 2nd president of the united states. So he wanted to be president also. He wasn't the smartest president that ran the country and he kinda started the depression.
