One of the most striking similarities is the common genetic code. A series of three nucleic acids on a DNA chain is called a codon. A codon specifies which amino acid will be used to build a protein. Any specific prokaryotic codon will code for the exact same amino acid as would the same three nucleic acids in a eukaryote.

They both have a cell membrane, ribosomes, and DNA (although in the prokaryotic cell, it is just a "nucleoid region" while the eukaryotic cell contains the nucleus, nuclear envelope, Nucleolus, etc.

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have the following in common:

1- DNA as genetic material.

2- Ribosomes synthesize proteins.

3- Enzymes that catalyse metabolic reactions.

4- Similar metabolic pathways.

5- Membranes with similar or identical components and organizations.

A prokaryote is a single-celled organism that lacks a membrane-bound nucleus, mitochondria, or any other membrane-bound organelle.

A eukaryote is any organism whose cells contain a nucleus and other structures enclosed within membranes

They both have ribosomes, are enclosed by a plasma membrane, contain DNA and they are both filled with cytoplasm. A prokaryote is a single-celled organism that lacks a membrane-bound nucleus, mitochondria, or any other membrane-bound organelle. A eukaryote is any organism whose cells contain a nucleus and other structures enclosed within membranes.

What is the difference between something eukaryotic and something prokaryotic?

There are quite a few differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus, while eukaryotic cells do. Prokaryotic cells are not found in humans while eukaryotic cells are. Prokaryotic cells are primitive while eukaryotic cells are much more evolved.

cell membranes

How are prokaryotic and eukaryotic alike and diffrent?

Prokaryotic cells have no nuclei and eukaryotic cells have a true nuclei. prokaryotic DNA is circular where eukaryotic DNA is linear.

prokaryotic and eukaryotic

No, but eukaryotic cells contain a descendant of a prokaryotic organism.

Both eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells have a plasma membrane.

What are the primary differences between prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells?

The main primary difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells is that the prokaryotic cells don't contain a nucleus. The eukaryotic cells are also larger than the prokaryotic cells.

Do people have prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells?

The cells found in the human body are eukaryotic cells. Organisms that have eukaryotic cells are usually multicellular like humans. Organisms that have prokaryotic cells are usually unicelluar, like bacteria.
