There are various separatist groups that seek various goals. For example, the Puritans were separatists who wished to separate from the Church of England. In modern times, some separatists in Canada wish for Quebec to separate from the country.

the goal of the speratists was to send all of the people against the seperatist religion to Rhode Island and make them feel bad,but in rhode iskand is where they couls be religiously free and happy. Back in plymouth the seperatists goal was to have all one religion and not mixed. So everyone there would have the same thoughts on religion and it would be 'better" for them in a way. They also thought they were better because of this.

Why were pilgrams also known as separatists?

The Pilgrims broke away from the Church of England that King Henry instituted. They were persecuted for their beliefs and that they did not attend the Church of England. By the time the Pilgrims broke away from the church, King James was ruling. Some of these "Separatists" went to Holland. They lived there until they felt the Dutch were a bad influence. And again, some of those separatists left for America. These Separatists then made their "pilgrimage" (journey) to America. Today these Puritans/Religious Dessenters/Separatists are called the Pilgrims.
