Anytime a fuse blows, or a circuit breaker trips, indicates an excessive current [measured in Ampheres (Amps)] flowing in the circuit. This is an abnormal condition, and could be hazardous which is why fuses or circuit breakers are installed in electrical circuits. These safety devices are designed to cut off the electricity to prevent damage to the system, or in a worst case scenario, a fire. When repeated fuse blowing, or breaker tripping, occurs, you must troubleshoot the circuit to find the cause of the overload or short, and then remove/repair the cause before a new fuse can remain in place without blowing.
No, you could overload the wiring and start a fire.
how come my cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuses in my 2000 ranger
Check or replace the socket
i have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 fuel injected vortex and my cigarette lighter keeps blowing out. i replaced it with 15 amps fuses but it keeps burn it out. i just want to no if that the right amps for this car
I assume you mean the fuse keeps blowing? It's certainly possible for the lighter element itself to go bad as well as the socket you plug it into. Also, there are often other circuits that use the same fuse.
i have a 1998 Toyota tacoma pickup the pulley is loose on it does it free float or what
You might be pulling too much power through the cigarette lighter. Also the cigarette lighter may grounding out for some reason or another. If the car has an aftermarket stereo, whoever installed it may have miswired it.
my Chevy cobalt 2005 keeps blowing the fuse everytime i put my windows up or down i had the door wireing replace a new window motor replaced new switch and it still blows the fuse what can the problem be
dash light and back light on my Montero sport went out and keeps blowing fuses. why
The fuse is blowing out because the wire for the O2 sensor is shorting to ground. Replace the entire wire (trace it through the wiring harness) and the connector for the sensor.
Three possibilities, one the lighter is bad or the wire is grounding and the other is the socket has something in it or broken. My son had put a penny in mine and for the longest it was out of service. Good Luck.
Far left side of the dashboard under the pop-out panel. The users manual will tell you which fuse it is. 20 amp I believe. Mine keeps blowing the fuse so I put a disposable Bic lighter in the armrest.
