What do you do if your best friend chooses to go on a trip to somewhere else after they promised they would visit you?

Well, you have the right to be upset because you were probably looking forward to seeing them and they shouldn't have made a promise they arent keeping but in the same token, when people only get a weeks vacation, you do like spending it doing something you havent done before. They obviously felt that you would understand, so in the future when they say they are going to do something, make sure you say, well are you sure your going to do that because last time you changed you mind at the last minute. Dont harp on it but you have every right not to take their word as fact, if they do things like this.. Be the bigger person and wish them well on their trip but I wouldn't go out of my way on my vacation to visit this time either so they know how it feels.

Ok there are a few things you can do. I have been in the position of going on holiday with one of my best friends and leaving the other behind, and my two best friends going on holidays without me.

The things you need to remember is:

1. Don't get angry and jealous, keep calm
2. Don't confront them about it, this shall just result in an argument
3. Don't strop off, because that would just mean your slightly weak.

When I went on holiday and left one of my friends behind she resulted in doing all the three things up there. That just turned me and my friend against her, so don't do them!

When my friends went without me, I planned a small day trip with them both and said there: I'm so glad that we can be here all together I'd hate leaving one of you and only taking the other.This is a small hint to them that I felt a bit annoyed. Do not say something like 'Don't you just hate it when your best friends go on holiday without you?!' This is too subtle and they shall just go off even more.

Always remember that there's probably a clear reason why they couldn't bring you. Always discover the options why. Maybe there was only enough rooms/tickets for two? Look on the funny side of it.. maybe they are lovers? ;)

If they show you pictures/videos or tell stories about it when they get back, don't explode. Just say a little sadly 'Oh it looks like so much fun! I wish I could have been there...'
