If anyone in your same household gets Swine Flu, then they should try to stay in their bedroom or another part of the house separate from everyone else, with a separate bathroom if possible. Everyone else should not go in that area until after she is free of symptoms, including free of coughing, for a full 24 hours or for one week after symptoms began, which ever is longer. All in the house should be using very good handwashing technique and other preventive measures (see related questions below). Talk to a health care professional, it may be possible to take an anti-viral medication that will help prevent the rest of the household from getting symptoms. If you have to get in the same room, try to stay a minimum of 6 feet away from her. Use regular cleaning supplies to keep the area where she stays clean and use spray disinfectants that are specifically effective for use on viruses to clean items commonly touched by everyone in the family. Have them use disposable eating utensils and glasses, so no one has to handle their dirty dishes.
