Knock-off watches that steal the design, logo, or that sellers try to pass off as being the famous brand are not only illegal but has serious consequences on creativity and the designer's finances. So called replicas--products that make some cosmetic changes so to try not to match the brand--still infringe on intellectual and creative copyrights and trade-marks. Manufacturers should be fined; imports seized and destroyed; and the sellers arrested and prosecuted. Countries spend countless funds tracking down profiteers. Whether knock-offs or replicas, if sellers didn't find buyers, the demand would automatically decrease supply-- sellers wouldn't steal other people's ideas and try to cash in on it. So buyers hold just as much responsibility as those who make and sell the products, which by the way are often substandard in quality and workmanship. Buyers of ripoffs perhaps deserve to be ripped off, since they perpetuate the demand for suppliers to rip off both the original brand/trademark holder AND the people who buy them.
