my mom and all of her friends have one from when they were young. girls got it on the hand, guys on the shoulder. alot of druggies have it. lolz
heres something better i found on Yahoo answers that explains better
A few years ago I got a star between my thumb and finger. It's a variation of 'party dots'. And basically my star, or party dots, showed that I was a party and it's a thing druggies do.
So, usually if you see something like a star, dots, X, a peace sign, ect that's what it will mean.
But, some of them don't mean that, like the flower I now have covering up the star. It really depends on the person, but if they are young, or got it when they were young, it's probably the part dot thing.
nah not always dude. i got an x between my thumb and forefinger and it's only coz i was drunk at the time lol... not straight edge, not a druggie. I'm not christian but some ppl think its a cross and I'm cool with that.

Your forefinger is your pointer or index finger. It is the finger next to your thumb.
Miley Cyrus (Miley Stuart on Hannah Montana) has a tattoo that reads "Just Breathe" under her left breast. She also supposedly has a star between her thumb and forefinger. David Henrie (Justin Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place) has a skull tattoo on his back.
It doesn't necessarily mean anything... what and where people get tattoos is their own preference and opinion

The force that is applied when you stretch a rubber band between your thumb and forefinger is pushing force. Pulling force is achieved when you stretch the rubber band with one hand by pulling it away from a surface where it is attached.

The spot between the index finger and the thumb is called the thumb web space. The information is hard to find but is mentioned in the link below (in the section labeled "Causes"). Note: The link shows a birth abnormality, but "thumb web space" is the term for the normal appearance of thumb and index finger.
