The colours of the spanish flag has no special representation. The current flag of Spain was instituted by the king Charles III with the only goal of make more easy the identification of the spanish ships in the sea. Meanwhile, the popular culture often indentifies them with the blood (red) and the gold (yellow).
The logo is divided in four main qarters where are the coats of arms of the four constitutive kingdoms of Spain (a Castle for Castile, a lion for Leon, red and yellow strips for Aragon and the chains of the Almohad Miramamolin, a Muslim leader beaten in 1212, for Navarre) In the bottom there is a little grenade representing the kingdom of Granada and in the center a blue circle with three "fleurs de Lis" representing the current Bourbon dinasty. In the sides of the coar there is two columns representing the Heracle's columns that is as was known the strauight of Gibraltar in the ancient times and between them the motto of Spain "Plus Ultra" (in latin, beyond) that refers the spanish discovery of the Americas.
