It just numbers that tell the specs of the car. the first number stand for the series. for example, the 325i is the 3-series, the 530xi is the 5-series. the last two number indicate the engine size. for example, 325i has a 2.5 liter engine. the 330ci has a 3.0 liter engine. The last letter tells youw hat type of engine the car has for example, in 750Li, the i indicated that the 7-series has a fuel injection. however, most modern car has a fuel injection engine so you would always see i. in Europe, they have diesel engines option so you might see a d as in 335d sometimes you will see a letter in front of the last letter, that indicates a special type. for example 528xi, the X tell you that the car has the x-drive system. another example 750Li, the L tells you that the car has a longer wheelbase (for passenger room). think of L meaning LONG. and another example the 330Ci, the C tells you that the car is a two-door Coupe Now you sometime see M in front of the series number as in M3 or M5. M stands for BMW's sport signature cars. basically, it just means that series has a niceass engine, suspension, and everythign is tuned just for the sportiness you feel when you drive the car.
