Light roasts have the most caffeine. Similar to regular cooking the longer coffee is roasted, the more caffeine (and other elements, CO2) are cooked out of it. Like performing a "reduction" in cooking. Medium to Dark roasts have more caramelized sugars lending that richer bolder flavor, but they will have invariably less caffeine. This difference in caffeine to most people will be a nelligible one, meaning you won't necessarily notice that your "french roast" doesn't wake you up like your light-roasted estate "single-origin" coffee does. Some people insist darker roasts wake them up - because of the "punch-you-in-the-face" flavor. I think that no coffee should ever "punch you in the face," it seems rude and improper roasting technique (i.e. Charbucks). But for the sake of science, Light Roasts are the Caffeine containing beans. It is possible to find a great light roast, where the salt compounds in the roast are almost gone - leaving only a bright, sweet (from natural sugar caramelization), delicate flavor on your palate. Also, use the proper coffee to water ratio for your brew or your coffee will come out weak no matter what you do.
In terms of brands, Shock Coffee says that their coffee is grown, blended, and roasted to maximize the caffeine levels. They sell beans and canned beverages and chocolate covered beans called "Shock-a-lots."
Energy drinks can be packed with sugar and high in artificial caffeine. The energy drink boosts your energy and then you crash. Imagine a healthier choice of energy drink with ZERO calories, no preservatives, no sugar, and all natural caffeine and also has Goji berry and green tea and is naturally flavored with blue berry and Acai and lasts for hours. This is the safer and more natural route to go and did I mention- it tastes great, and have maximum ammount of caffeine. Check it out @ www.onlyatgbg.com/adened
I found an all natural energy drink that is 80% juice called EMV. It contains all natural caffeine and has antioxidant power. There isn't a spike/crash of energy; you will have long lasting energy all day. The price is comparable to Red Bulls and even cheaper if you buy them in bulk! :) They are delicious, I absolutely love them! They keep me focused and don't give me the jitters like the other ones do. You can look at the website on my profile for more info! I hope they work for you too! :)

You're most likely to find caffeine in them. They drink a lot of coffee and energy drinks to stay awake on long boring rides.

If you look on the back of the can it says. It honestly depends on age, if your less than 12yrs of age, it is seriously not recommended you drink ANY type of energy drink. But say your a high-schooler, you can drink up to 5-a-day, your heart goes into rhythmacies, and it is likely you'll have severe heart problems with anymore that day. I've been sent to the hospital when I was 12 for "over-dosing" on Rockstar. I'm 13 now. Hehe...
Orally (you drink it)
