I have the same problem with my 2000 grand prix with no brake lights. I just took it to a garage today and was told it needed a turn signal assm. The price would be 780.00. I paid 89.99 for this info. and brought my car home. I had never tried the hazard lights and after reading this I went out to try my hazard lights. I found the hazard button stuck. after pushing it down forcefully the hazard lights went on and, now I have brake lights. This may be temporary I don't know, but I now have fully fuctioning lights.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Grand Prix Brake Lights not working. I took my car to the repair shop and they said it would be close to $1,000 after everything. I went home and used Google to find this Web Site about the problem. I went to the car and pushed the hazard button down and the released it. To my great delight my brake light now work saving me the $1,000 repair bill. Thank You very much.

Yep, spent last 2 days tearing things apart trying to find out why the brake lights wouldn't work. Came in and Googled here and in 5 minutes found this. Went out and played with hazzard button for 10 seconds and fixed it. Once again, thank you very much:)

Thanks Guys it worked for me too.My wife got pulled over by state trooper for no brake lights, insurance company had her license suspended for no isnsurance, that company never had the car under their policy anyway don't know how it happened just a glitch in computer but costs me a 93.00 dollar seat belt violation and the wife had to get a new license since cop took hers, the wife went to parts store and sepnt money on all new fuses and bulbs,i spent hours tracing wires and checking relays. Now i feel dumb for not just checking the web. went out there after reading your posts and the hazard light button wouldn't even go down.played with it for a few minutes and BAM!!! the break lights are working again! I cant thank you all enough! Car was heading to the shop on Monday, but now that's getting cancelled.Keep the tips coming I'm adding this page to my Favorites! It works 2003 grand prix same problem. I changed my wiring and light sockets and lights and checked the fuse and the brake lights still didnt work and then I looked up this info. and I also used the hazard button now my brake lights work THANK YOU it was a big help.

Fuse 7 controls the brake lights. It should be a red 10amp fuse.

What fuse controls the brake lights on 2001 Dodge Van all lights and trn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?

It is not necessarily the fuse. It could be the switch on the brake that is not closing the circuit.

If all the fuses are good, then most likely the brake light switch right on the brake pedal inside the car. Check that.

What fuse controls the brake lights on a 96 Chevy 1500 All lights and turn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?

I'm not exactly sure which fuse it is, but it doesn't sound like a fuse to me. I would check the switch on the pedal, just simply short acrost it from terminal to terminal with a screwdriver, if the brake lights come on, the switch on the pedal is bad, if they don't then it probably is a fuse.

What fuse controls the brake lights on a 1984 Chevy camero all lights work except no brake lights when the brake pedal is pushed?

its probably not a fuse at all, but it could be your brake light switch. its under the dash hooked to the pedal. I had to replace one on my 84 t-bird

What fuse controls the brake lights on a 2002 dodge dakotaall lights and turn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?

Something you may not realise is that the brake light bulb is often one bulb with two elements. One of the elements will be for the brake and the other will be for the tail lighting for example so,when tested, the actual bulb will still light up because the second element is unaffected. Make sure that the 'blown' bulb that you are actually changing is not in fact your fog lamp. This will not automatically light up when you test your lights as you have to operate this light separately (similarly to indicator lights). So the fog lamp bulb will appear to be the only one not lit up when you test your lights. Find the bulb with two elements inside and change that one. Sounds obvious (and may be obvious to many) but it's a common mistake. Hope this helps!.

1995 jeep grand Cherokee limited entry lights stay on?

There is a dashboard illumination switch that controls the brightness. If it is pushed up fully, the interior lights will stay on. Lower the switch slightly until the interior lights go off. When doors are closed, if the switch is lowered, the lights should go off after about 30 seconds max, maybe less. Hope this Helps, it did on mine.

Why do all rear car lights come on when brake is pushed?

rear car lights come on as an indication to the drivers in the back that you are about to stop.
