The tsunami has generated by the Indian ocean earthquake on 2004 inundated much of its area that partly damaging the lighthouse subsided 4.25 m in the tsunami. As a result of this subsidence, the coast retreated and the sea permanently came inwards. The lighthouse has been made functional since then.
The base of the lighthouse was 5 m above sea level when constructed on 1972 to until the tsunami. After the tsunami, the sea rose and the base was less than a metre above the sea level showing a subsidence of sea floor by over 4 metres. It has observed that the sea is slowly starting to retreat back partly to its original position and the subsidence has decreased as the ocean floor is slowly bouncing back partially
This southern tip of the Great Nicobar island, "Pygmalion Point", is the southernmost point of India. Though the "Vivekananda Rock" of Kanyakumari is the southern most point of Indian mainland, the "Pygmalion Point" is actually the southernmost point of the country as it is situated at a lower latitude and closer to the equator 6*,45 N. After the demise of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, this point was named "Indira Point".

indira point
Tsunamis have been striking America but not of the magnitude of 2004 Asian Tsunami or 2011Japan Tsunami. But still there are no such instruments or devices which could predict a tsunami or an earthquake.
this is because at this point the waveis not that strong but at the shore it gets forceful and increases in magnitude causing the tsunami
The one that is not caused by and earthquake or seaquake. Well you can see that a tsunami will still be in the air, it can be called the wall of water, it goes over land. Wile a tidal wave is a beach wave that still goes over land, that means that a tsunami is worse.

Indira Point
Indira Point, the southernmost tip of the Great Nicobar island is the southernmost point of land in the territory of India. It is at 6o 45' N latitude. Indira Point was formerly known as Pygmalion Point and it was so named by the late Rajiv Gandhi after his mother on a visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A large part of the Indira point was submerged under the sea due to the tsunami generated by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The sea is now slowly retreating back to its original position. Indira Point is also a favourite nesting site for exotic sea animals.
