Actually nothing significant happens after that, the cycle just continues. Are you sure you wanted to know what happens when a new oceanic crust forms or how is a new oceanic crust formed?

If you meant how a new oceanic crust is formed then here is the answer>>>>

New oceanic crust forms when the divergent plate margins move away from each other leaving a gap, then magma rises to fill that gap, then it cools and turns solid and forms new land. :) I hope this was helpful!

The older crust is simply pushed to the side to allow room for the newer portion being formed. However, the oldest oceanic crust is being slowly subsumed back into the upper levels of the mantle as the tectonic plates are jostling around.

Formation of new crust occurs at divergent plate boundaries known as mid-ocean ridges, where upwelling magma fills the void between plates that are moving apart.

Yes. New crust is formed when magma cools down in the ocean.

The new crust does and will displace the water. The formation of new crust along the Mid-Atlantic ridge is also increasing the size of the Atlantic Ocean.

Earth does not get bigger as new oceanic crust forms?

Just as new oceanic crust forms at mid-ocean ridges, old oceanic crust is destroyed at subduction zones.

What forms at the center of the mid ocean ridge?

New oceanic crust.

What are places where oceanic crust sinks back to the mantle?

No. Mid oceanic ridges are the places where new oceanic crust are forming.

Is new oceanic crust formed at mid-ocean ridges?

Yes, the process that creates oceanic crust on a mid-ocean ridge is called "seafloor spreading". seafloor spreading creates a new oceanic crust that forms on the mid-ocean ridge.

Why doesn't our planet get larger from sea floor spreading?

As new oceanic crust forms at mid-ocean ridges, old oceanic crust is destroyed at subduction zones.

Is a new ocean crust formed at a divergent boundary?

because the molten rock cools in the water and forms a oceanic crust

What happens to old oceanic crust as new molten material from the mantle?

The older oceanic crust moves away from the spreading center and is eventualy subducted back into the mantle.

New crust forms when or where?

where two plates pull apart from each other at oceanic ridges

How can the ocean crust be different ages?

On geologic time scales, new oceanic crust is constantly being formed ad mid-ocean ridges while older crust is destroyed at subduction zones. The crust forms at the ridge and is carried away by the movement of the plate as new crust forms to take its place. The oceanic crust is youngest new a mid ocean ridge and oldest far away from it.
