The other driver has a right to sue you to recover any damages not covered by the insurance. It could mean a lien against you and against any property you own. If you have nothing thay can take, let them sue. They can't get blood out of a stone and they can't take what you don't own.

What is the law on auto liability insurance in Tennessee?

Tennessee requires "Proof of Financial Responsibility" which can be satisfied by liability insurance with minimums of 25/50/10. Otherwise, a bond or other assurance of ability to pay damages is required. Proof is not required at the time of vehicle registration, but penalties are incurred if proof is not provided at the time of an accident. Proof is required regardless of fault, so all parties must provide it. Most drivers opt for insurance.

Can i go to jail for driving with no car insurance and a learners permit?

Absolutely. If you are stopped and have no drivers license and do not have insurance on the vehicle you are driving then yes you will most likely be taken to jail and the vehicle will be impounded to car jail as well. They can't let you drive off without a license or insurance.

Do you have to give your ins co info about your spouse?

Definitely, for some types of insurance. For example, if automobile insurance they would want to underwrite any potential drivers, such as your spouse. If he has a bunch of DUIs, and might drive a car, they need to know about that.

Are Texas car insurance laws any different than the laws that most states have?

Texas, like all other states, requires that drivers carry insurance. Each state sets the standards for the minimum amount of coverage. In Texas, this rate is called "30/60/25 coverage," which specifies the minimum amount of coverage for injuries, the accident, and property damage. It does not include repairs to your car, and only applies to cars that are not financed. You can read more: http://www.tdi.texas.gov/pubs/consumer/cb020.html

Can you renew your insurance license with a civil judgment in the state of Georgia?

Most states have Financial Responsibility Laws, which mandate the maintenance of liability insurance. However, another aspect of those laws usually provides that if a civil judgment is entered against the driver/owner of the vehicle and the judgment remains unpaid for a stated period of time (often 30 days), drivers licenses and tags can be suspended. Importantly, the judgment must arise from a motor vehicle collision (not, for example, an unpaid debt). The party getting the judgment in his/her/its favor usually must apply to the licensing authorities for the suspension. The authority usually requires a certified copy of the judgment (obtained from the Clerk of Court where the judgment was entered), and a document that may be called a "Record of Unsatisfied Judgment" (or similar) also issued by the Clerk. In this case, the material would be sent to the GA driver's license authority with a request that the license be suspended. In due course, you woould normally receive confirmation. Depending upon the timing of the license renewal request and the suspension, the person may have already renewed and physically obtained the renewal license. While technically driving on a suspended license, he/she may get away with it until stopped for a traffic violation. Law enforcement then would check the validity of the license and find it to be suspended. The penalty for driving on a suspended license compounds that for the underlying traffic offense. If the suspension occurred before the time for renewal, the Financial Responsibility Law usually requires that the judgment be paid as a condition of renewal. Also, the judgment debtor would probably have to obtain and maintain a high-risk form of liability insurance for a period of time. It i often referred to as an SR-22 and is more costly than standard liability insurance.

Drivers become subject to the liability insurance law when accident damages amount to?

You are subject to liability insurance requirements whether or not an accident occurs. An accident has nothing to do with liability requirements. You are required to have liability insurance of at least the minimum required by your state before getting into a vehicle and driving it. Driving is what triggers the law.

Drivers With No Insurance?

Winding mountain roads, flooding rains and coal miners are only a few of the things that drivers in West Virginia have to deal with. They also have to deal with insurance rates. The best thing for drivers in the state to do is to look online for the most affordable insurance rates they can find. Car insurance is not just something that drivers can choose to have if they want to take it out. Car insurance is a requirement if drivers have a car. One of the things that are different about this area of the country is that Virginia does not make drivers have liability insurance. This means that there are plenty of drivers who are in West Virginia who may not have insurance coverage if they are involved in a car accident. Uninsured motorist coverage is a must for drivers in West Virginia in the event that they are in an accident with someone from a state that does not require their residents to have liability insurance. If an accident is the fault of the driver, their insurance policy will be responsible for the damages of themselves and others who are in the accident. A minimum of $20,000 for one person involved in an accident and $40,000 for multiple people who are in an accident is required by the state. Since there could be drivers who do not have insurance driving on the roads in West Virginia, it is recommended by insurance companies to get have more than the minimum coverage. Comprehensive and collision insurance are not required in the state, but they are two things that should be considered by drivers because of the conditions the roads can get in and other people who are driving. West Virginia is one of the states that are seeing a decrease in insurance rates. Drivers are being more careful when it comes to the rules of the road, and they are saving money by driving safely. Insurance rates are still at over $2,000, which is above the national average. Before purchasing an insurance policy, drivers should compare several different policies to get the most affordable rates possible.
