That would have been terrible because he was the one that sent the people in to fight the war and if he wouldn't have done that we would have lost the war and that would have led to very bad things.

Improved Answer: "Very bad things" wouldn't necessarily happen considering that one of the reasons that the southerners revolted was because Abraham Lincoln won the election of 1860. Nevertheless, if Abraham Lincoln had been absent from the Civil War, it may have never occurred saving the lives of many young American men during the 1860's and later resolved peacefully.

The answer is that most likely a war between the states would have not happened. And, as being economically unsound, slavery as it happened in all the Northern colonies, would have withered away.Of course, no one had a crystal ball, however, as Great Britain and France did, the US most likely would have found a way to end it via compensation, as did Great Britain. France never was "in to a slave society", so to speak. With that said, the European powers did not enslave "slaves" they enslaved entire nations of peoples. They did that until 1962, when France finally gave up on "owning" Algeria.

Who was the President of the US during the American Civil War?

Civil War President Abraham Lincoln had just been elected US President when the first Southern state of South Carolina in December of 1860 seceded. That state would other Southern states and become united as the Confederate States of America. Part of the reason for secession was due to the South's concerns that Lincoln would abolish slavery entirely.
