Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC's) are specially trained for SEAL Team insertion and extraction.
SWCC's are trained in many areas. They are masters of SEAL insertion and extraction in all types of weather, conditions, waterways, oceans, environments, etc. SWCC's are attached to the Special Boat Teams of the Navy's Special Warfare Community.
SEAL Team 6 is one of several SEAL units in the U.S., Navy Special Operations Forces, manned by SEAL's and SWCC's.
Enlisted men in the US Navy are often called "Blueshirts". Chiefs are enlisted supervisors who wear the same khaki uniforms that officers wear. Hence, both are often referred to as "the khakis". But Chiefs are sometimes called Chiefs, while Officers are more often called "khakis". Special Operations such as SEAL/SWCC often refer affectionately to regular Navy personnel as "blackshoes" or "shoes" since they usually wear their issued boondocker shoes instead of combat boots.

The U.S. Navy's Riverine Squadrons (3 as of last year), under the command of Riverine Group 1 and attached to the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) are not like the Navy's SWCC's at all. SWCC's are trained for SEAL Team insertion and extraction - Rivron's patrol rivers and similar waterways for maritime security and cooperation. Established in 2006 and based out of the Naval Amphibious Base in Little Creek, Virginia (where mosquitoes are many), Rivron's have been deployed to Iraq in support of the war there, having a major impact on arms trafficking on the rivers. The first deployment of such brown water vessels for the Navy in 35 years, they are the descendants of the Navy's river patrol boat squadrons from the Vietnam era (seen in the movie "Apocalypse Now"). Though the sailors of the Rivron's come from all rates, the one common element is that they must undergo Marine Corps Infantry training. As a former Navy Small Arms Instructor, I can attest to the fact the few sailors have the knowledge or training for small arms use on a regular basis, let alone combat situations. Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC's), are a lot more highly trained in many areas. They are masters of SEAL insertion and extraction in all types of weather, conditions, waterways, oceans, environments, etc. The more difficult challenge of the two, SWCC are attached to the Special Boat Teams of the Special Warfare Community.
There are several acronyms relating to SWCC. Most common among these are South Western Community College, which offers help and advice for education and career related issues.
Known by the SEAL's as on of the "Boat Guys", an SB2 is one of the Navy's Special Boat Operators, who are part of the SWCC (Special Warfare Combat Crewmen) community. An SB2 is a Special Boat Operator 2nd Class (2nd Class Petty Officer). SB's, like all SWCC's, are responsible for SEAL insertion and extraction where high speed boats and other watercraft are required. They are highly trained in boat operation, navigation, engineering, first aid, weapons, and pretty much anything else necessary to operate in extremely hostile environments.

Yes. Navy SEAL teams and also the navy sends people on IA (individual augmentee) tours all the time. It was starting to become more and more common when I retired about 3 years ago. I am guessing its still going on. At my command it was a volunteer that usually went but if nobody would volunteer they would pick someone if they had been asked to supply some IA's.
