An occult neoplasm is a more complicated way of saying a hidden tumour. In medical terminology the adjective occult is used for a symptom or substance which is so small in amount it is practically hidden in general view. An example might be occult blood found in phlem. The blood is just hidden in the phlem because there is such a small amount in there. The word neoplasm needs tumour and comes from the terms neo- meaning 'new' and plasm which is a type of growth, i.e. neoplasms are 'new growths'. The fact that they are occult means that these growths are undetechable and well hidden.
