The Civil Disobedience Movement ended without any result. It could bring neither Swaraj nor complete independence to India. Nevertheless, it was an important step in the Indian struggle for independence. It generated political consciousness among the Indian multitude. But it failed to bring about communal harmony between the Hindus and the Muslims, the two major communities of India. However, the civil disobedience movement furthur strengthened the national movement and created a deep sense of patriotism in the minds of the people. It made people understand the significance and principles of non-violence. They were now able to resist violence with courage. Finally, it made women equal partners to men in the freedom struggle.
