The Nile supplied water for crops and animals. Its yearly floods brought silt on to the fields which improved their fertility.
The Nile and White Nile Rivers after the annual floods.
Every time the Nile floods, it provides many natural gifts. The Nile is a long rive that floods not only Egypt, but Ethiopia and Sudan.
The fertile parts of Egypt (present and past) are all along the Nile River.
The Nile Floods
The Nile's yearly floods helped the egyptians so that they could grow crops. The Nile carried Silt (rich, fertile soil) and dropped it in area's where farmers could collect it. When the Nile flooded, it was a very important time. If there was too much water, the crops were destroyed. If there was not enough water, there was a famine. This is why the Nile is called "The Gift of the Nile"

The time that the nile floods form june to september
The Nile River created Egypt from it's silt (fertile soil) every year the Nile River floods and give silt to what is now called Egypt. The silt has formed Egypt, so if the Nile River was not here then Egypt will not be here today.
If you were a farmer, a big pro was that the yearly floods fertilized your fields. Cons would be if the flooding was worse than expected, might take your house out.
What causes rich farmland in Egypt is when the Nile floods leave rich soil for crops.
