A Call Optiongrants the owner the right to buy an asset at a fixed price at some defined future point in time. A Put Option grants the owner the right to sell an asset at a fixed price at some defined future point in time. If the right is not used within the specified time, referred to as the expiry or expiration, then the rights lapse and may not be used.
