Best Answer

Sulfuric acid is the electrolyte used forlead-acid batteries (accumulators)
Sulfuric acid is used in the production of fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate (sulfate of ammonia), (NH4)2SO4, and superphosphate,
Sulfuric acid is used to clean oxides from iron or steel prior to galvanising or electroplating
Concentrated sulfuric acid (18M) is used as a dehydrating agent

Sulfuric acid is also used for drying neutral and acidic gases such as N2, O2, CO2 and SO2

Sulfuric acid suck water out of carbohydrates and other organic compounds that contain oxygen and hydrogen.
Sulfuric acid is used in the production of nitroglycerine, an inorganic ester & organic nitrate,
It is also used as a vasodilator, a substance that dilates blood vessels and can be used in the treatment of certain types of Heart disease:

Sulfuric acid can be used to make fertilisers, chemicals, paints, explosives, detergents and probably other stuff as well.
Concentrated sulphuric acid is a cheaper chemical reagent when compared to many others. Although there are many uses of this acid in various industries. Some of them are shown below.

  1. Manufacturing of superphosphate fertilizers and other types. (This is the most important usage of concentrated sulphuric acid).
  2. Paint industry - In preparing pigments , as an example titanium dioxide can be taken.
  3. Industry of artificial fibre - Some of the example materials are rayon and plastic.
  4. Detergent industry - Alkyl or aryl sulphonates are often used as the active ingredient of detergent powder.
  5. Petroleum industry - Extracting alkenes.
  6. Steel industry - When preparing steel, sulphuric acid is used to remove the oxide layer which lies on the iron metal surface.
  7. Manufacture of various organic and inorganic compounds such as drugs, paints, metallic sulphates etc.

also in redox titrations H2SO4 is used to deliver H+ ions that quicken the procedure of the reaction

How can seprate p-nitro acetanilide mixture of para and ortho acetanilide?

The amide group on acetanilide is an ortho/para director, so a simple nitration should work: a mixture of sulfiric acid and nitric acid should be sufficient. Afterward, separation of the ortho and para compounds (by column chromatography, probably) would be necessary.
