What state do you live in? What city? These would be very helpful in order to answer your question more thoroughly. But if you want just a general answer, scrap steel is not very high right now, just look at how many vehicles are in the junk yards around you area. A good way to gage it is look to see how many "crushed" cars are in the yard. If there are a lot, price is low, not too many, price is up. this is ONLY AN AVERAGE. the average car is worth about $50.00-$75.00. if you own a car that is not too old,5yrs. up, it's worth more, 10-15 yrs. up less. believe it or not there are a lot of variables in the salvage business. I won't go into all of them, we would be here quite a while. Again, the AVERAGE car is worth $50.00-$75.00 in the AVERAGE market.
